Employees are the main foundation for a company to start up or even survive in any industry. Having employees with positive attitude is the key reason to a company’s success, and for this reason the employer has to recruit a suitable management and employees to achieve his/ her primary and ultimate goals.
According to Manzoor (2012),
several organizations believe that the employees are its main asset and
motivated employees will lead the organization to growth.
Dugguh
(2014), recommends that the implementation of different motivational techniques
in an organization will improve the productivity and end result.
Being
in the hospitality industry, one should consider the human factor of needs and
wants. With the worlds rapid change of environments people tend to adjust to their
own surrounding area according to their comfort zone, and this could directly
impact the organization in a negative manner. The management should consider
all factors to keep the employees engaged with their work as it improves
productivity (Bakker,
Albrecht, Leiter, 2011), and it increases revenue and reduces expenses (Swanberg et al,
2011)
According
to an American researched based company for management performance named Gallup,
Inc., 70% of American workforce are emotionally disconnected and dis engaged
with their organization (Rosenfeld, 2013). So it is at high importance that the employer gets the management
involved in the company’s goals e.g. Vision, Missions and Values of the
company.
Below video highlights the benefit of employee motivation such as,
- Retention
- Low Turnover
- Positive Atmosphere
- High Turnover of Staff
- Happy Customers
These factors directly contribute to the overall objective of the company and results in growth and stability. Also on the other hand employees are much happier and the word of mouth brings effective advertising at Zero Cost. Having a pleasant environment within employees makes life easier for the company’s recruitment teams to attract the correct people for the correct job. All these attributes to maintaining a high reputation within the industry and higher satisfaction levels within customers.

Pink (2009) stated that there are three steps that managers can take to improve motivation: 1 Autonomy – encourage people to set their own schedule and focus on getting work done not how it is done. 2 Mastery – help people to identify the steps they can take to improve and ask them to identify how they will know they are making progress. 3 Purpose – when giving instructions explain the why as well as the how
ReplyDeleteThank you Derrick for the citing and input towards the blog. Yes, I too agree towards Pink (2009) statement, and according to a study conducted by Grant (2008), motivation imposes employee outcomes for instance performance and productivity
DeleteClearly explained , Skilled and efficiency of employees and their experience, qualification are asset to any organization this implies reputation and goodwill of organization (Rothberg, 2005).According to Weitz, Sujan and Sujan (1986) salespeople demonstrate different tricks when dealing with customers and their effort measure the performance.
ReplyDeleteAlso The employee ideas contribute to the achievement of high performance, excellence and competitive advantage in an organization (Rothberg, 2004). Its a win- win situation to both employer and employee.
DeleteGood explanation Deyan. Furthermore, Varma (2017) states that having motivated employees has become essential for organisations and points out that having such motivated employees will help an organisation secure strategically important advantages such as greater team cohesiveness, greater general efficiency across the organisation, increased commitment at all levels, a culture driven by creativity & innovation and confidence to face uncertainty.
ReplyDeleteYes Nelushan, Unless and until, the
Deleteemployees of an organization are satisfied, are motivated for the tasks fulfillment and goals achievement, no organization can progress or achieve success(Adi, 2000, Anka, 1988, Rothberg, 2005).
Good article Deyan. I agree with the content, For businesses, managers, and even front-line supervisors, employee motivation has always been of utmost importance because it has been and will continue to be the determining element in work performance, which will ultimately determine the success or failure of a firm. - Kim Dongho (2006)
ReplyDeleteYes manoj, According to (Anka, 1988), a satisfied employee would understand a companies objective while unsatisfied employee will neglect all factors of the ultimate objective or goal.
ReplyDeleteGood article Deyan furthermore motivation is an intrinsic force which gives energy and direction to the goals to be achieved (kreitner 1995). Always a motivated employee will be showing more participation which will improve the results of organization.
